The Ministry of the Interior and Safety (MOIS), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) of the Republic of Korea (ROK), and other relevant ministries jointly dispatched a delegation for digital government cooperation to Honduras and Costa Rica from March 23 to 24.
In cooperation with the MOFA, the MOIS has sent digital government cooperation delegations to Latin America and the Caribbean annually since 2013. The MOIS has diverse international cooperation programs including Digital Government Cooperation Centers, ODA projects, capacity development courses, and experience sharing events.
The delegation co-hosted the “Digital Government Cooperation Forum” with the relevant ministries of the respective countries to shared the latest digital government issues and best practices.
Forums were held on March 20 in Honduras and March 22 in Costa Rica.
The delegation also had high-level bilateral events with both countries.
In Honduras, the delegation met with Minister Marcio Sierra, in charge of digital government, on March 20 to discuss plans for concrete bilateral cooperation for digital government, including the establishment of a Korea-Honduras Digital Government Cooperation Center by 2024.
In Costa Rica, on March 23, the delegation signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for the establishment of a Korea-Costa Rica Digital Government Cooperation Center with Vice Minister Orlando Vega Quesada of the Ministry of Science, Innovation, Technology and Telecommunications(MICITT).
The Korea-Costa Rica Digital Government Cooperation Center will be established at the MICITT as a platform for digital government cooperation by promoting joint cooperation projects, consultations and capacity development programs.
